Carlsbad is fondly nicknamed “Village by the Sea”, and is thoroughly enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. It enjoys a stretch of seven miles of beach front, and is located just 35 miles north of San Diego city. Carlsbad is made up of about 39 square miles. Residents enjoy a semi arid type Mediterranean climate with mild winters. Occasionally frost will occur in the inland valleys during December and January. Summers are sunny and bright with very little rain, although some days are overcast and cool and laden with fog occurring off the Pacific. Carlsbad has been called the jewel of San Diego County, and is made of smaller resident friendly communities

There are four school districts that serve Carlsbad:
Encinitas Union School District (K-6)
Carlsbad Unified School District (K-12)
San Dieguito Union High School District (7-12)
San Marcos Unified School District (K-12)
Amenities
This city lacks for nothing when it comes to its provisions of amenities. There is a large selection of restaurants that offer food selections from fine dining to top quality take-out. When it comes to shopping there are plenty of Malls to fit the needs of every shopper, plus plenty of quaint but quality shopping venues to be found in the Village of Carlsbad. Entertainment
Entertainment is a matter of choice for the individuals enjoying the atmosphere that this city has to offer. For families there are fun events like trips to the several different museums that can be found here like the Museum for Making Music, or the Craftsman Museum. Then of course we can’t forget about Legoland.
Outdoors
Carlsbad is such a beautiful city that is blessed with great weather, it is no wonder they offer so many outdoor things to see and do. The Carlsbad flower fields when in bloom are absolutely spectacular. There is no better place for a leisurely walk then along side the Carlsbad Lagoon.
